I took leave from 16 - 21 August for a short holiday in Bali. We had booked with Airasia for its direct Kuching to Bali flight in June straight after we returned from Bangkok. A couple of weeks ago, Airasia announced the suspension of the Kuching Bali flights from 26 August. Thankfully, we made it. Bali is a great holiday destination. Tony Fernandez should try to keep the direct flight from Kuching and reduce the frequency. Perhaps ask the Bali tourism board to subsidize the empty seats. After all, us tourists spend a lot of money there in accomodation, food (lots of fantastic restaurants there) and buying all kinds of consumer goods. My son Nigel had a ball at the Quiksilver and Billabong shops.

Four of us ate 2 lobsters at Jimbaran Bay beachside warung for Rp 1.7 million - they were so big (4.7kg) we couldn't eat anything else. The lobsters were live and we felt a bit sorry that they had to die for our feast.

We spent 3 nights in a beachfront hotel and 2 nights at a boutique all-villa hotel in the Ubud highlands. We all had a really great time.

I must go to Bali. When AirAsia provided direct flight Kuching-Bali,I was dead worried about the physical condition of the old B737--that is why I kept delaying my trip. The sector was canceled-------shame to the tourism board sarawak.........
